Bridge Hall Primary School Where Every Child Matters and Every Day Counts

Design Technology

I am Mr Wilcock ad I am the lead teacher for DT in our school

“Design is so important because chaos is so hard”

-Design is everywhere. From the clothes you wear, the food you eat to the smartphone you hold, it’s design.

At Bridge Hall Primary School, we want children to explore and be inquisitive; asking questions, finding information, sharing ideas, designing, creating, adapting and then evaluating, interesting and creative Design and Technology projects.

It is important to us that our children learn to take risks; become resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens. That they develop an understanding of what their impact could be in the wider world as they grow.

If it’s DT then it has to be:

Some thing  for  some one  for  some purpose!

Here at Bridge Hall, DT is generally connected with a classes current topic which then makes links to other curricular areas.

DT lessons draw on a range of other subjects such as maths, science, computing and art.

We want our children to feel secure and confident enough to try something new, take risks and enrich their education through Design and Technology lessons and any extra curricular opportunities we offer.

We teach DT according to the guidelines in the 2014 curriculum. Please refer to our curriculum overview for the specific units of work for each year group.
