Year 5

Welcome to the Year 5 class page.

Our teacher is Miss Platt and our teaching assistant is Mr Wilkinson.

Welcome to our class page. During Year 5, we build upon previously established abilities, encouraging students to produce work of a high standard. Our rich and engaging curriculum allows children to engage in independent enquiry and collaborative learning. While we work hard to achieve academic excellence, we also ensure that fun and creativity are integral to the learning experience. Together, we foster a nurturing environment that promotes growth and enthusiasm for learning.

Important Information for Year 5:

Reading

A reading book has been sent home for your child to read. He/she MUST read at home everyday, including weekends. They will have a reading record that needs to be signed by a parent or guardian. Once they have finished the book they must return it to school so that a new book can be given.

Homework

Homework books will be sent out at the start of the academic year. Homework will be set weekly. The work will be based on what we have been covering in class that week, or previous weeks. Work is to be completed in the homework books and brought in for me to check weekly.

PE

Throughout the year, children will engage in a variety of sports, both indoors and outdoors. It is essential that children bring their own trainers for PE sessions, which will rotate half-termly. Notifications regarding specific days will be provided in advance. During the winter months, we advise children to wear a jumper for added warmth. Additionally, swimming sessions will be held in the first term, requiring each child to bring their own swimming costume and towel. Each week, students will also participate in regular PE sessions at school.
