Maths

I am Miss Platt, and I am the lead teacher for Maths at our school.

At Bridge Hall Primary, we are dedicated to providing all children with a series of engaging maths lessons each week, designed to support their progress through a series of small, manageable steps.

Our maths curriculum is carefully structured to ensure that every child has the opportunity to improve their fluency while being challenged to reason and solve problems across a variety of contexts. We aim to build a strong foundation in mathematical concepts, allowing our pupils to apply their skills confidently in different scenarios.

We follow the White Rose scheme, which provides a robust framework for our teaching. Our approach is grounded in the 'I do, we do, you do' concept. This methodology ensures that all children can succeed within mathematics, as it allows for gradual release of responsibility from the teacher to the pupil. Each lesson incorporates different levels of challenge, catering to the diverse learning needs within our classrooms.

To further enhance understanding, we provide children with the appropriate equipment and apparatus necessary to help them make sense of the problems they encounter. Our teachers employ adaptive teaching strategies, ensuring that every child receives the support they require to thrive. We believe that with the right resources and guidance, every child can develop a positive relationship with maths and achieve their full potential.
